Creating a sidebar message
From Georgetown University Commons Knowledge Base
There are various reasons you might want to add a sidebar message (text widget) to your sidebar. If you aren't planning on creating an "about" page, for example, you could instead create a very brief "about this blog" widget that describes at a glance what your blog is about. Professors might like to create a sidebar widget for their course blog that lists their contact info and office hours. Text widgets can include HTML tags, so if you would like to create a link in your text, you can do so. See our quick guide at the bottom of this page.
Adding a text widget
- From the Dashboard, go to the "Appearance" menu, then click "Widgets."
- Drag a "Text" widget over to the sidebar.
- Title your Text widget and enter text (HTML aware).
- Click "Save."
